Yes We Can

In one week, we will wake up to change - tis only a question of what kind of change. I have hope that we find out that yes we can.

Losing Time

I've been losing track of time every afternoon. This is the reason why - forking glorious eye candy. These were taken through the living room window - where my computer sits. No wonder I don't get anything done until after dark (laughing).

I'm pinching myself daily - I still can't believe I have had the good luck to be able to live here. I'm getting right handy at getting my firewood upstairs and am settling in nicely. I'm thinking about curtains, what stuff will go where. Guess I'm gonna have to get off my tushkie and order my POD up here. We've had gloriously sunny days and I know I will regret not ordering the POD before the fall and winter rains hit.

I am not looking forward to the second half of the move - all the unpacking and putting away of stuff. Especially since every box, every carton and every piece of furniture has to be moved upstairs. Oy. Back to doing my Katie Scarlet O'Hara - I'll think about that tomorrow.

Born On The Bayou

CCR = Born On The Bayou - some classic swamp rock for a lazy Sunday afternoon with some lovely eye candy to go with the ear candy.

Am watching the sun slowly sink into the west as the birds feed upon the treasure the low tide has revealed. There are clammers out in the mud and muck, wearing their waders and carrying buckets for holding the clams.

Bird In Flight

Was able to capture this bird flying along the bay at sunset tonight. Am still learning how to use the camera - I gotta read the forking two how to booklets that came with it.

This was my last photo of the day before it got too dark.

I'll upload the rest of the pictures to a album later - here's the link to my photo site with albums listed by date.

Evening Star

First attempts at trying to photograph the first star at sunset with varying degrees of success. Ya gotta look really close for that white speck in the sky above the trees.

Kit For Kat/Since I've Been Loving You

From the utube page:
The Looney Toons episode "Kit for Kat" played along with Led Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You".

Took some more pictures today of a fabulous sunset with storm clouds gathering. This is one and there are more here.

Tagged

I mentioned in the post below that One Fly had tagged me. Here are my answers:

1. Clothes Shop: Me? Clothes shop? I have stuff that is wearable from the early 70's.

2. Furniture Shop: Dayam, this is hard. I don't furniture shop either. I did buy a sofa loveseat set about 12 years ago. Does that count?

3. Sweet: Depends on the day - pastries, cookies, ice cream, cake, pie, oh dear, well, if it is sweet I like it :)

4. City: Exactly where I am right now. Rural but close enough to Tillamook that I can shop local and an hour away from the big city of Portland

5. Drink: Alcohol - not so much but when I do, champagne.

6. Music: If it's good, I like it. I like music ranging from the Greatest Hits of the 1600's to electric blues; from Hank Senior to Stevie Ray, classic to head banging.

7. TV Series: PBS and HGTV shows. Network: My Name Is Earl.

8. Film: I haven't seen a film since Shrek 2. I gotta get our more I guess.

9. Workout: Retired and no longer working out on duty. I chase Token and Bailey around but my keyboard gets more of a workout that I do.

10: Pastries: My step-dad is the best pastry maker around. Anything he makes I'll happily eat.

11. Coffee: Continuously. A double latte with thick foam if I'm treating myself for going into town. Otherwise, the stuff that comes outta my coffee maker.

Who to tag now?

Darkblack
Betsy at Relaxed Politics' Beach House
Teh Kitteh Antidote (even though she has not blogrolled me)
Onery Bastard
Egregious

More photos here.

Laid Back Sunday

Today was a laid back Sunday - spent the afternoon talking with my loved ones on the phone and took some pictures. No sunsets today - I was eating my delicious bowl of chicken and dumplings and there was no great color - just a deepening of the gray into night.

Here are a few of the pictures - more at this link. Some show views from inside looking out, like this from the dining room looking out towards the garden and apple trees:

This one is is looking from the living room out to the bay:

Sunsets

I uploaded some pictures I took today. The hail on the deck was taken late late last night shortly after the first of two hail cells that moved through. The sunset at low tide pictures were taken from either the deck or through the dining room windows tonight.

Enjoy the eye candy. More pictures here.

Sadeness

Enigma - Sadeness.

Waiting for the cold to hit - there is an Alaska storm headed this way with a freeze warning for Friday and Saturday. That will mainly be inland - here at the coast we should hit the low 40's. Was watching the clouds dancing with the moon tonight and they shifted direction to moving from the north to the south.

Having a cord of wood delivered later this afternoon. Am hoping that a little $ persuasion will entice the wood guy to help me get some of the cord up onto the decks - or at least the bay side deck. Fingers and toes crossed.

Tight Rope

Leon Russell - Tight Rope, from the album Carney released in 1972.

I just watched the moon set behind the spit, disappearing into the clouds at sea wanting to come in. Twas a beautiful night - Cape Lookout back-lit by the moon, playing peek-a-boo with the clouds. I'm gonna have to break down and read the book that came with the camera and figure out how to photograph nite scenes. Too forking beautiful not to share.

Worked the live blog over at the lake tonight during the debate. The moonlit sky was a nice antidote to the crap McCain was dishing.

Before The Storm

Photos taken at low tide this afternoon before the storm hit later in the evening.

I've included a few to tempt ya to go look at the album. Way too many favorites to post them all (laughing).

The First Christmas Song

Am learning the birds on the bay. Downstairs lent me her copy of Birds of the Pacific Northwest Coast and I'm eager to start learning. I think this is an egret. He stook there for several hours and then flew away with a flock of Canadian geese.

I heard my first Christmas song on the radio today - this was it. Bob Rivers doing his finest.

Stormy Weather

Lena Horne
- Stormy Weather. From the utube page:
Here's the full version of a performance that can be found truncated elsewhere on YouTube -- from the 1943 film of the same name, the great Lena Horne delivers a sizzling performance of her signature song.
Am waiting for the storm to arrive. Was sprinkling earlier but now its falling at a steady clip of 0.12" per hour. Weather dood says there is a severe storm warning - winds expected to gust to 60 mph on the coast. I've got the fire going, brought some wood inside back when it was just sprinkling, and am waiting for the storm.

At Last

Beyonce making Miss Etta proud - At Last.

i am home

me and token and bailey the cat (as opposed to bailey the dog downstairs) are forking wiped out. i am going through the 96 emails still sitting in my email inbox, dinner is warming up (frozen left over pot roast soup i brought with me for tonight). no tv. gonna go get a small (and cheap) one tomorrow when i get up - along with a coffee pot. gotta be able to watch the veep debate yanno - geez, i'm a political geek

i'll get the pod when i get the pod and then i'll have a small (cheap) tv in the second bedroom and a backup coffee pot (laughing)

i'm so forking tired. feels good just to sit with the heating pad on my back and a fire going in the stove - sucka does put out heat and makes nice cracking noises and pops so its not so silent here - although i do have kpig on. met the downstairs neighbor and her dog bailey - she's an early to bed early get up kinda person - park ranger at cape lookout.

on my first trip bringing up my stuff, i saw a black bear cub (but not a baby - looks like not quite a yearling) at cape lookout as i was driving here - he was waiting for me pass by before crossing the road -didn't see mom but she had to be around. on my second trip, i saw deer munching on someone's garden - i think they are both very good omens. there was a large flock of geese on the bay when i got here and they were hanging out with the pelicans according to the landlord (she was here when i made the first run).

here, i can totally relax. i feel the crap of the past couple years falling off me as i sit here.

i'm putzing, sitting, gonna eat, putz some more. of course, its not real putzing - i'm putting away stuff but doing a lotta sitting. i can hear the surf across the bay on the other side of the spit and the sunset was glorious with birds calling

*i'm too tired to capitalize and make all the punctuation proper - i promise to be doubly good with the next post to make up for it (laughing)

Today starts mine. Today, I move into the new place on the bay.
