I Got Sunshine On A Cloudy Day

I got sunshine on a cloudy day...

The apple trees are starting to bloom.

Gary the wood guy delivered half the cord I ordered yesterday and will bring the other half later this week. I helped unload about half of it into the storage while Gary was bringing armloads up and stacking them next to the wood stove. I had to stop when my back let me know that I had overdone.

I was unaware of my fake knee was also protesting my overuse until today when I was doing the grocery shopping. Unfortunately, I was out of just about everything and had to stock up. Took a few breaks while lugging all those bags upstairs but everything is now put away, the frozen meats are individually bagged, and my new coffee pot is brewing a pot of High Tide's house blend. Other than getting up for more coffee, my plans include a lot of sitting in front of the living room windows for the rest of the day. Have lots of birds on the bay as the tide rises, lining up for their afternoon snack.

Lazy Days

A lovely day at the peaceful retreat on the bay. Bright blue skies matched only by the sparkling waters of the bay. Birds flying overhead, ducking and swooping as they dance in the air. An eagle soars past, its wings extended as it sails overhead, and all the small birds scurry to their hidey-holes. After it passes, the birds return to their frolicking.

Took the car into town for repair to the right rear tire which had a slow leak. The nice man at Les Schwab said I did not need to replace the tires yet and examined the leaky tire. After about 20 minutes, I was told that there had been a nail in it, it was now patched and there was no charge. Wow, I sure as heck know where I'm going to get tires when I need them.

Came back home instead of running the rest of my errands. Tis way too lovely to be scurrying around town - tis a day for lounging about in the sunshine watching the show Mother Nature provides. A day with temps in the 60's is not meant to be driving around town doing errands nor to be inside the house. Token is on the deck soaking up the sun and I'm off to join him.

When The Long Road Ends

My online pal ThatGuy, a regular commenter on my Late Late Night posts at FireDogLake, lost his beloved Brat due to illness. He created this video in tribute to Brat. Music by Paul Thorn - When The Long Road Ends,

Ain't No Sunshine

Another day of no sunshine. The fog fascinates me - whisps swirling in the trees, watching the breeze blow it further inland as it plays peek a boo with everything in its path. The UPS guy told me when he made a delivery today that the sun was shining 1/4 mile down the road.

A day made for this song = Bill Withers singing Ain't No Sunshine from 1972.

Monday Monday

Spent yesterday up at my buddy Busted's place. As I was driving through the Portland area before crossing into Washington state, there was not a cloud and the sky was bright blue. Was able to see Mt. Hood to the east and Mount St. Helens to the north. Both made stunning contrasts to the blue sky with their sparkling crowns of snow. Made me wish I had brought my camera with me. After helping Busted reorganize his kitchen (note to larue: no purple no frills), I headed home in time to grab a bite to eat before work last nite.

Weather dood said Monday would be as gorgeous as Sunday but he lied. Woke up to weak sunlight (sigh). Drove into Tillamook to run some errands where it was bright sunshine. Was gone less than an hour and returned just as the fog was blowing in. The first picture is of it coming in and the second was taken just a few minutes later - shows how fast it came in and how socked in I was all afternoon.

My Newest Granddaughter?

Jen and Mike visited today and brought their new addition to the family. Dublin is a Boston Terrier, named for Dublin, Ireland - and the city they were married in, Dublin, California. She is 8 weeks old and cute as a button.

Token was very jealous of her cuteness.

Fog

Tisn't sunshine at all today - fog, fog, and more fog here at the peaceful retreat on the bay. Can't even see the spit across the bay. Tis a good day to be inside with a warm fire keeping the damp away.

Birds On Wing

I grabbed the camera to take the first picture when i heard a loud flapping of many wings. Looked up and guess I had scared the birds roosting in the trees on the north side and they were flying off. Tried to take some pictures - with limited results so went back to pictures of the bay.

Judge for yourself.

Tomorrow I'm going to the post office to get my passport picture taken and submit my application for my first ever passport. If I decide to drive to Alaska instead of flying up there, I'll need a passport. I also need one to go to Mexico for dental work (sure wish I had dental insurance and had teeth that were not falling apart but ya know what they say about wishes and one's hand). All, of course, depends on figuring out how to get time off from the Lake without forking up the schedule.

Unsettled

Woke up to bright sunshine, blue skies with puffy clouds. Twas spring. Of course, the clouds came in during the afternoon, the sky grew dark, and it hailed. Hard. Then it rained. And then the clouds became white puffy clouds again with blue skies and sunshine. The weather just can't quite make up its mind yet - highs in the mid 50's during the day but down into the 30's at night.

I took these after the hail and rain. Token even cooperated when I took his picture. He jumps up onto the arm of the sofa (as he has seen Bailey do) and posed like a good boy. Bailey, on the other hand, took off when she saw the camera.

Sunday The Clouds Parted

Sunday it rained all day. No, it stormed all day. Wind blowing the rain sideways against the windows. Woke up to the house creaking and the storm howling outside trying to get in. A check of the weather had the gusts only in the mid to high 30's but it sure sounded a lot faster and stronger when it woke me up. Stayed that way all day.

Then, right before sunset, the clouds parted - for a brief moment there was sunshine. Sure it was low on the horizon and not strong but it energized me. I quickly grabbed the camera and took these before it went away.

Woke up to sunny today but it didn't last. By midday, it had clouded over again and now it is drizzling. But it is ok - I got some sunshine and blue skies. The rain is starting to come down harder now but I've got a fire going in the wood stove. Tis warm and cozy inside watching the rain fall straight down (no wind). Bailey is on the pet pad by the stove and Token is on my lap. He's gonna get the blame for any typos in this post.

UPDATE 8pm: Now it is hailing so hard I can not hear the tv. I love the wildness of the weather here - it certainly is not boring like California weather was.

So What.

Pink - So What.
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na

I guess i just lost my husband
I don't know where he went
So i'm gonna drink my money
I'm not gonna pay his rent (Nope)
I got a brand new attitude
And i'm gonna wear it tonight
I wanna get in trouble
I wanna start a fight

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
I wanna start a fight
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
I wanna start a fight

So so what?
I'm still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't need you
And guess what
I'm having more fun
And now that we're done
I'm gonna show you tonight
I'm alright, I'm just fine
And you're a tool
So so what?
I am a rockstar
I got my rock moves
And i don't want you tonight

Uh, check my flow, uh

The waiter just took my table
And gave to Jessica Simp- Shit!
I guess i'll go sit with drum boy
At least he'll know how to hit
What if this song's on the radio
Then somebody's gonna die
I'm gonna get in trouble
My ex will start a fight

Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
He's gonna start a fight
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
We're all gonna get in a fight!

So so what?
I'm still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't need you
And guess what
I'm having more fun
And now that we're done
I'm gonna show you tonight
I'm alright, I'm just fine
And you're a tool
So so what?
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't want you tonight

You weren't there
You never were
You weren't all
But thats not fair
I gave you life
I gave my all
You weren't there
You let me fall

So so what?
I'm still a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't need you
And guess what
I'm having more fun
And now that we're done (we're done)
I'm gonna show you tonight
I'm alright(I'm alright),I'm just fine (I'm just fine)
And you're a tool
So so what?
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't want you tonight

No No, No No
I Don't want you tonight
You weren't there
I'm gonna show you tonight
I'm alright, I'm just fine
And you're a tool
So so what?
I am a rock star
I got my rock moves
And i don't want you tonight

Moving On?

Perhaps it is time for me to move on - why should I be a cyber punching bag for anyone who is angry about something else.

Soft Sunday Sunset

Sunday was as gorgeous as Saturday, with temps of 66 and a gentle breeze blowing. The surf on the other side of the spit was quite loud all day and kicked up a lot of mist which cloaked the spit.

I'm A Believer

Color me wrong. Tis currently 66 outside - warmer inside than out for the first time since fall. The day has a couple hours left before it starts to get cooler. Yummy!

Eye candy courtesy of Mother Nature's sunshine. Token is not the only one soaking up the sun's warmth.

Deep sigh of contentment.

70?

Weather dood said it will be 60 tomorrow and 70 Sunday and even warmer Monday. I don't believe him. This is what today looked like today - the high today was 45. I really don't know if we can warm 15 degrees in one day up here but color me skeptical. He also said the clouds are leaving and that it will get down into the 30's tonight. Ha. It has been in the 30's at night here for quite some time now with cloud cover. I'm looking up and seeing dark gray, not-as- dark gray, and lighter gray and no blue.

Prove me wrong, weather dood.

I am ready for some warm sunny days instead of gray ones with occasional 'sun breaks'. That is the official term for when the ever present gray clouds part for anywhere from a few seconds to at most a couple minutes in order to remind one what sunshine looks like. No where near enough sun to be called partly sunny so they use the term sun breaks.
