From Jane's most recent post at FireDogLake.com, a blog I read daily (even the comments). Sometimes I even come out of lurking mode and comment. As soon as I figure out how to blogroll, I'll have FireDogLake along with my friend Debra's blog right up there! And, as soon as I figure out how to change these links into those nifty wordlinks that say what I want them to say, please bear with me. I've got my fingers and toescrossed but, being double Irish and all, hope this first attempt at linking works...
Back to Jane's post, http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/03/29/the-locals-love-their-ned/
, I snagged a quote she snagged from The Connecticut Journal Inquirer:
"Lamont’s secret weapon is not his personal wealth. That helps. But his greatest asset is a public philosophy. He believes in constitutional democracy. He believes in limited government and popular sovereignty. Even in wartime, the power of government must be checked; even in wartime the president is not a law unto himself; even in wartime the people deserve to be informed by the free exchange of ideas. Even in wartime, the citizens may seek to change the government."
Great article about Ned Lamont and his race to unseat Joe Lieberman and why this race is important, even to those of us in California. Click on the links. Read Jane's take on it and read the comments. Click on the links offered in the comments about other Lamont's out there.
This life-long Republican says we need more Ned Lamont's out there.
