TWOTON GREEN BLOG... a twist on the way I would say my name as a small child, TwoTon Green Book. This, however, is a blog and not a book.

Packing Up
Marion Williams - Packing Up
Tentative schedule: POD arrives Friday, 8/1. The Help Pack The Pod party is on 8/3. Escrow is tentatively set to close on 8/7, which means I have to be out by the 12th. Subject to change, of course.
I am expecting to arrive in the Newport area of Oregon on August 15th. After some much needed down time, I'll start my search for permanent housing. Newport is the far southern end of my search area and I think I'll probably end up further north but I was able to pick up a nice summer vacation rental home on a bluff overlooking the beach. (big big smile) No ocean view but close enough that I will be able to hear the crashing surf and smell the salt air.
The down side is that Token and Bailey will not be with me (big smile turning upside down). They are staying next door with Token's sister's people who are pet siting them until I find where I'm gonna hang my hat for the winter. Then I'll come back down here and get them and all my potted plants, which are going to be cared for by my friend Anne in Carmel. No sense in moving them twice. I am not looking forward to the drive back with Bailey - she does not like being in the car and is quite vocal about ... the entire trip. Oy.
I've got the kitchen cabinets about halfway packed - most of the canned goods in the pantry are going to the local food bank. Really just clothing that still must be gone through with (hopefully) larger pile going to the Mountain Thift and taking apart the beds. The dressers are almost empty.
Car goes in to George the mechanic later today for a thorough going over and then down to Lloyd's Tires Wednesday. Picked up a bluetooth headset for my cell phone yesterday down in Santa Cruz. My agent is dropping by a checklist for me to use for cancelling utlities, etc.
I'm packing up.

Blackjack
My buddy, bigbrother, has been sharing stories during Late Late Nites over at the lake about his dog, Blackjack. Since he did not have any pictures of Blackjack to link to, I offered to post a couple of pictures here.
He sent me the pictures and here is what he said:
Here is a couple picures of Blackjack: one in his habitat and one in sick bed. Note the smile
.
Blackjack is a very loved dog. Here are some more:
Blackjack doesn't get around well anymore so bigbrother made this to use as a cart for blackjack to use to get down to the bay and on the water.

Onda
Los Lonely Boys - Onda - all 26.07 minutes live from the Rochester Ny. Jazz Festival 6/9/07
Tis a lovely way to end one of my last Sunday nights here at the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods. The sun has gone behind the ridge and it is a pleasant 75 outside as the bright greens start to fade into what will eventually be greys as the stars come out. Watched a redtail hawk get into a nest of steller jays yesterday afternoon - the forrest was filled with bird cries as the battle was waged with jays dive bombing the hawk and the ravens and crows in the tree waiting. Today, everything is back to its usual silence.
I will miss this place.

Miss You
Rolling Stones - Miss You live in the late 70's per the utube page. Thanks to Margot for reminding me of this song.
Some Humans Ain't Human
John Prine - Some Humans Ain't Human
I've said that if I got moving costs outta the house that I would be lucky. It looks like that is questionable - everyone else has to get paid outta the sales price - I had to give the buyer a $5K credit for repairs based on the reports from the termite and home inspections. Everyone gets more outta this deal than I do. I did everything right which I figured out really means that I get to pay for all the delays and got to have limited control - such as not being allowed to look for anything but a cash buyer for 15 forking months while the forking real estate market forking tanked beyond the toilet and into the sewers. I reduced my price but there were no cash buyers to be found.
Meanwhile, I am accruing penalties and interest on property taxes, am only making a partial mortgage payment so am accruing penalties and interest there and there is always the Homeowners Association dues and penalties - but hey, I'm doing the forking right thing.
Three months after they relented and agreed to financing - bingo, a buyer. Meanwhile, I keep spiraling down a hellhole while getting to pick up the tab for everyone else - ending up with less than 1/10th of what I have put into the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods.
Fuck.

Something Good This Way Comes
Jakob Dylan - Something Good This Way Comes
The buyer has lender approval for her private financing. All inspections have been done and the HOA is scheduling the Board of Directors meeting for the buyer's interview.
Looks like I will be out of here the 1st or 2nd week in August.
dancing happy dance but still have my fingers and toes crossed because I'm double Irish and its not over until escrow closes.

Accountability Now
AccountabilityNowPAC is comprised of Americans demanding accountability in government. As the logo says, Lust For Freedom Can Lead To Some Pretty Strange BedFellows. Click the link, sign on, and help fight for American freedom from our secret government. Jane has more.
Today, the Senate voted to remove the protections of the Fourth Amendment from Americans. Today, the Senate said it was ok for the American Government to spy on and wiretap Americans without a warrant.
Dirty City
Steve Winwood - Dirty City.
A different septic crew found the septic tank after the first crew was not being able to find it Monday. It was exactly where I told them it was. Then they left. Said another crew was coming tomorrow to do the digging.
Major eye rolling. A simple one day septic inspection has turned into a three day deal. I know these companies charge $350.00 each time just to send out a crew - there goes the rest of my moving money. Sigh.

Buyer Showing - Updated
Buyer will be by soon. She is showing the little cottage by the creek in the woods to her kin and, I'm sure, hoping they fall in love with it also.
Floors are waxed and shined. Beds are made. Windows are open and I'll light the candles right before I leave.
UPDATE: I was lied to - she wasn't showing it to kin - she had two construction trucks here and they were here for over an hour and a half. I think she was trying to slip an inspection by me. Should not have lied to me - if she had been honest about the purpose of her showing, it would NOT have been a problem.
I think I'm just gonna pack up and leave. It's not worth all this just to end up with maybe $5k to move with - and my second exhusband has threatened to put a lien on my house unless I give him $2k of it. I've lost everything I inherited from my dad by 'doing the right thing'.
The only thing the right thing does is screw those who do it.

Matty Groves
Fairport Convention - Matty Groves. My mechanic, George, was with Fairport Convention (harmonica player) back in the day. I'm going to have to be sure to get the car over to him for a good going over and also get some new tires. Gotta make sure it will handle the drive up to Oregon/Washington.
I'm looking forward to finding where I'm gonna hang my hat. My neighbors said they will watch Token and Bailey for me while I'm looking.

Good News
Good news available here.
Bad news - was woke up this morning by a phone call and had to wait for a return call so only got 4 hours sleep. Was going to take a nap this afternoon but had several calls I had to take and a couple visits by my real estate agent that used up all my nap time instead. Escrow is a whole different roller coaster but it brings me closer to moving.
More good news - Jen, Mike, and the girls arrived safely in Oregon this afternoon.
