She Takes More Than She Gives

Walter Trout concert on Nov 8, 2006, in Berlin. Awesome playing - his guitar forkin cries on She Takes More Than She Gives. Wow.

Time for me to start giving instead of taking.

Passing on the smooch of the Excellence in Blogging Award that Busted bestowed upon me:

Angry Black Bitch - Shark-Fu says more with a cough and a blink than I could ever hope to be able to say. She's on my daily must reads.

Alicia's Last Left Before Hooterville is also on my daily reads. She's befriended my wee blog many times and ohmystars, she has a book coming out! Alicia describes herself as
Musician by trade. Wife of one, mother of three, stepmom of one. Concierge of two Burmese cats who think they are dogs and a Dalmatian/Great Dane dervish of a dog. She plays a wicked B3 and since Token thinks he is part cat, Alicia and I have bonded (laughing).

egregious - who could not love someone who saves babies in Russia with her medical charity, has picked up and moved clear across the country (and a lot closer to me now) and is always inspiring me to be more 'more' - all while wearing fabulous shoes.

Outta the Cornfield - I came for the eye candy (and cause busted recommended it) and stayed for the wonder views on life. Yep, on my daily must read.

ET's Progressive Alaska needs a shout out too. And not because he has offered to take me fishing when I get up to Alaska and always answers my silly questions about weather up in his little slice of heaven. He's making change happen up in Alaska and is my go to guy for all things Alaska politics.

The QC Report. Quinn had me hooked with the first Lulabelle the cat post I read. She now has a dog in addition to having a full plate with Consort and Daughter and also has a book coming out. (I'm sensing a trend here).

Tales of the Freeway Blogger. His messages are seen by thousands driving on the freeways across America and have inspired others to no longer remain silent. Scarlet P inspires me to speak up.

Dr. Hillhouse's The Spy Who Billed Me is where I go for contractor info at the CIA and all the other alphabet soup agencies. Someone has to try to keep track of the outsourcing of our national security and she is an expert. She has a page turner of a book out (see I told ya there was an unintended trend here).

TRex - who taught me how to roar and let me sit on his shoulder.

I know the E's are supposed to go to smaller blogs but ya don't get much smaller than my wee blog. I do have to include FireDogLake and skippy the bush kangaroo on my E for Excellence list - they are Excellent.

Sharp Dressed Man

Music by ZZ Top Sharp Dressed Man set to a video created for a high school music video contest.

This is a puppet music video that me and my friend made for a high school music video contest. We got the best audience applause after it was played out of all the video's so we did pretty good. It only took about 2 hours to film all the clips and edit the video.

Pretty cool.

Sunny Afternoon

The Kinks video of Sunny Afternoon. Tis a glorious spring afternoon up here at the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods. A lovely 63 degrees today, with a hint of spring in the air. Birds chirping, brazen hussy squirrels scampering from tree to my roof to another tree, ah yes, one of those wonderfuly perfect days that are our best kept secret up here.

My ole buddy BustedKnuckles smooched me with this:

Thanks dood. I'll be working on my share the smooch list and get it up soon. I've not been tagged with one of these before - does this mean I am no longer a virgin?

Head over to Busted's Ornery Bastard blog and find out why I love this lug and why his blog is rated NC-17. Forker calls em as he sees em and doesn't hold back. Can't wait until this place settles and I can finally have a face to face with him.

Just keep in mind, Busted, that payback is a bitch and bitch is my middle name.

Toon Tuesday: Devil May Hare

Looney Tunes presents Bugs Bunny in Devil May Hare, featuring the Tasmanian Devil.

Had a showing today that lasted for almost an hour. I hear the prospective buyer is an engineer so that may explain the fine tooth comb.

Tis a lovely spring day here at the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods. I have all the windows open - am listening to the creek babble and burp while watching Bailey watch the birds at the bird feeder.

Picked up 2.96" from Saturday's storm, bringing my yearly rainfall total to 37.34 - am finally at almost half of our average is and exceeding last years poor total of 29.7 inches. Year before that we got 75".

White Bird

It's A Beautiful Day performing White Bird.

The Saturday showing sent her agent an email and that agent passed it on to my agent who called and read it to me.

She presented two options, both of which were insulting. One was for $249,999 with my carrying a second mortgage and the other was just as insulting but did not have me carrying a second mortgage - it was for assuming my un-assumable mortgage. Both below what I paid for the place. The way she described the repainting that needs to be done (by me of course) along with other insults about my place made it sound like a hovel and was in need of major repairs. Bull dung. The entire house was painted inside and out 2 years ago and I repainted the bathroom and front bedroom before listing it. And, of course, she wanted me to pay all closing costs and she wanted an additional $4,000.00 back out of the deal.

Forking insulting is what it was.

I have a showing scheduled tomorrow at noon. Eyes rolling. Hopefully, I will have been able to pick up all the forks that were flying when my agent called with that insulting drivel.

The Difficult Kind

Sheryl Crow performs The Difficult Kind in Central Park, NY, featuring Sarah McLachlan.

The Difficult Kind

I think I was wrong
I think you were right
That all my angry words
Will keep me up at night
And through the old screen door
I still hear you say
Oh, Honey won't you stop
Treating me that way

[Chorus]
If you could only see
What love has made of me
Then I'd no longer be in your mind
The difficult kind
Cause babe I've changed

Tell it to me slow
Tell me with your eyes
If anyone should know
How to let it slide
I swear I can see you
Coming up the drive
And there ain't nothing like regret
To remind you you're alive

Chorus

I crossed the canyon a thousand times
But never noticed what was mine
What you'll remember of me tonight
Well, it almost makes me cry
Yeah, it almost makes me cry

If you could only see
What love has made of me
Then I'd no longer be in your mind
The difficult kind
But you won't see the change in me
If you could only see
What love has made of me
But I'll forever be in your mind
The difficult kind
But you won't see
No you won't see
The good in me
But babe I've changed
Cause babe I've changed

Toon Tuesday: Bully For Bugs

Looney Toons, A Warner Bros. Cartoon, presents Bugs Bunny in Bully For Bugs.

Supposed to get a wee bit of rain Tuesday afternoon, more rain Thursday night, and the weather dood is predicting a fairly wet and windy storm to come in Saturday. Stocked up on supplies at the store today, including a bag of tea lights. They are great to use in my votive holders when the power goes out and I can get a bag of 100 for around $5.00. My battery supply is ok so I can listen to KPIG and Token has learned to follow the flashlight beam when out saving a redwood tree (also known as doing his business) at night during a power failure. I am always thankful that my heater, water heater, and range are gas. Even if the power does go out, I can stay warm, shower, fix dinner and keep my coffee cup filled with hot coffee. We've not had any rain since February 2 and could use a good rainfall. Current rainfall total is 33.38 inches here at the little cottage by the creek in the redwoods of Boulder Creek.

Only peeps who came by the Open House Sunday were neighbors. Sigh.

What Was I Thinking?

I'm going to blame yesterday's post on the effects of all those cleaning fumes for the Broker's Open Thur morning. Only one broker showed up. I hope the public Open House Sun afternoon has better attendance. Token and I spent a lovely afternoon in Pebble Beach with our friend who runs a museum down there. A leisurely lunch at a fancy smancy sidewalk cafe with Token behaving like a gentlemen, sitting next to my chair without having to be told to use his company manners.

This video is based on the song What Was I Thinking by Christine Lavin and was made by the performers for an English class.

UPDATE (0145 am): Double crap - I forgot to link to Keith Olbermann's Special Comment. It's up at C&L and they also have a transcript of his comments. Let me include just a little teaser of what this news anchor said tonight:

Does this endless presidency of loopholes and fine print extend even here?

If you believe in the seamless mutuality of government and big business — come out and say it!

There is a dictionary definition, one word that describes that toxic blend.

You’re a fascist — get them to print you a t-shirt with “fascist” on it!

What else is this but fascism?

(snip)

I am not talking about ethics here.

I am talking about blame.

If the President seems to be throwing the baby out with the bathwater, it means we can safely conclude… there is no baby.

Because if there were, sir, now that you have vetoed an extension of this eavesdropping, if some terrorist attack were to follow…

You would not merely be guilty of siding with the terrorists…

You would not merely be guilty of prioritizing the telecoms over the people…

You would not merely be guilty of stupidity…

You would not merely be guilty of treason, sir…

You would be personally, and eternally, responsible.

And if there is one thing we know about you, Mr. Bush, one thing that you have proved time and time again… it is that you are never responsible.

Read the transcipt and watch the video.

Suzanne

Have the broker's open house this morning and have been making everything all shiny and pretty. I am trying very hard to keep a positive attitude - and spending the morning with my friend in Carmel will be a good way to do so.

Token Toon Tuesday

Token was quite upset to discover that his Token Tuesdays had been replaced with Toon Tuesday. After claiming that it was not his fault that my ancient digital camera is no longer talking to my computer, we opened negotiations. He declared he would be satisfied with the change as long as he maintained the right to occasionally post one of his favorite cartoons.

I would suggest that no one tell Bailey the cat about this being his favorite. He swears up and down, looking all innocent with those puppy dog eyes, that he harbors no ill will towards Bailey and told me "It was a guy thang."

With that, here it is:

Warner Brothers Merrie Melodies presentation of Terrier Stricken.

Red House

Back Door Slam performing their version of Red House. This was filmed at SxSW 2007. I first saw a utube of theirs over at Crooks & Liars in their Late Nite Music Club several months ago and they blew me away. I was able to find this video of Red House, a song that is always a favorite to hear played well. Looks like the crowd outside was enjoying it as much as the patrons inside the club. Enjoy the ear candy.

I've been negligent in providing my year to date rainfall totals. Haven't had any measurable rain since 02/02/08 when we received .80". The YTD total is 33.38 inches.
